Followup - MIR - time to change our name?
Last week, I suggested that the MIR community change its name
from 'Music Information Retrieval' to something a bit more inclusive
such as 'Music Intelligence Research' as a way to better describe the
activities of the community. Since then there has been an
excellent comment thread debating the issue. Don Byrd describes
his attempts to convince the ISMIR Steering committee to change the name
to 'Music Information Research', while Jeremy Pickens offers a
persuasive counter-argument. It is an interesting comment thread -
if you are in the MIR community I suggest you read it and offer your opinion.
