Sten has a pretty nifty JavaFX Visualizer for social tags. Sten's experimenting with the animation frameworks. It's pretty neat.

Hey Paul, thanks for the post. To your scaling concerns about
representing a full tag cloud this way, you're right in that would be
impractical.
I would think of this more as a "top n" tags plus their correlations
between each other (n probably < 10). I could imagine this existing
with a tag cloud (not necessarily instead of it) with different tags
from the cloud popping in and out with their analogous correlations.
But certainly if we consider Tufte's rules for visualizations as
(paraphrased) "maximal information in minimal space"...this would
probably fail.
